Derrick Lundy has been photographing Saltspring Island for the past 20 years capturing images of its people, events news and annual celebrations such as the Polar Bear Swim, Sea Capers, Fall Fair, and Remembrance Day.

Derrick has won more than a dozen community newspaper awards from British Columbia (BCYNCA) and Canadian (CNCA) community newspaper associations, picking up honours in several categories, including spot news, sports, black & white features and colour features. He has also been a major contributor to the multi -award -winning "Day in the Life of Salt Spring Island" feature.

Derrick currently freelances photography for several newspapers - the Gulf Islands Driftwood, Vancouver Sun, and The Province - and magazines. He also shoots events such as family reunions and other celebrations.

Derrick is best known for his images of children as he uses his camera to capture their innocence and natural ability to "be in the moment."
